liked it

This story is about a man who builds a "plane" to cross the English Channel. It was a great history picture book that is unique because it tells the story of a man who is not well known. The book was fun to read, however I did not enjoy the illustrations as much as the story. The illustrations in this story are very elegant, but sometimes bland. The faces of the people are not detailed at all. The focus of this book is the airplanes that the main character makes to fly from France to England, and most of the detail in the illustrations is devoted to the different planes. The text on each page almost acts as captions for the pictures, and the pictures add action and excitement to the text. The illustrations are very detailed, but in a way that I did not enjoy.
