As a Caldecott Medal winner, the illustrations do much of the talking in this extremely charming and humorous book! Officer Buckle means well, but he is quite clueless about how dry his presentations on safety can truly be for his elementary audience. However, things change drastically when he starts to bring Gloria, his dog along. Suddenly, he gets tons of praise and applause during his presentations, but why is everyone suddenly so interested? The illustrations show that Gloria is comically acting out Officer Buckle's safety tips behind him as he does his presentations! This book has cartoon-style illustrations, but they are of quality and enhance the comedy of the book. They also include small details around the border of the book, adding even more appeal. I believe children and adults alike would enjoy this book!
