it was ok

I read this in preparation for a planned trip to Provence later this year. I don't think it held up quite as well as over the years as people seem to think. Some of the quaint charm wore on me after a while. And many of the witty generalizations seemed to be offered in lieu of really getting to know and appreciate people, although the author's love of the place comes across clearly. I suspect because of the last few France based books I've read they all seem to follow the same theme, and my feelings may be less a reflection of this particular book and more directed at the genre overall.

Sue Bet you're excited for your upcoming trip! I think it's a nice coincidence that I'll be making a trip to France in June. I better start preparing like you! What books would you recommend?

Barbara You know there's nothing I've read that I really recommend. What I think I'm going to do is move away from the travel genre and just read what I like with a french slant like Parisian mysteries or fiction that takes place in france. If you come across anything worthwhile let me know. Hope you have and enjoyable and safe trip in June.
