Somehow I thought this was a book of fiction -- but in this case, this nonfiction account of Ernest Beckett, Eve Fairfax, Violet Trefusis, and Vita Sackville-West's lives was probably more intriguing than most fictional stories. The story about these four members of the English aristocracy takes place in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Plenty of eccentricities and scandal in this book, plus "cameos" by Rodin, Virginia Woolf, and Winston Churchill. Very good.
