I actually quite liked it. It was a very quick and easy, amusing, fun read that I finished pretty much in one sitting. I reluctantly shelved it under horror only because it's a Halloween book pack fulled of gothic figures, most of whom readers will recognize. Throughout the book, narrated from the point of view of Jack the Ripper's dog, Zelazny keeps you in a shroud of mystery; I felt like I was reading a detective novel. Sherlock Holmes's role was fantastic as well, and the ending had the appropriate punch that gave me an appropriate chuckle of satisfaction. Nothing brilliant, lots of fun. This was also my introduction to Roger Zelazny.
