bookshelves: mystery-suspense, modern-british-fiction

After reading #6 in the Simon Serrailler series ("The Betrayal of Trust"), #4 ("The Vows of Silence"), and now #5 ("The Shadows in the Street"), I am bereft: no more Serrailler novels until Ms. Hill writes another one.

They are compulsively readable, which usually means the plots are compelling (in the suspense world anyway), but I think it's just the whole world of her fictional town of Lafferton feels so real and complete. Very thoughtful writer; complex mysteries; interesting characters. Highly, highly recommended.

I plan to read some of her non-Serrailler books next.

Re-read December 2014. Enjoyable, but not as good as the first time around.
