This is the best yet in Peter Abrahams' terrific Echo Falls mystery series. Our heroine, 13-year-old Ingrid Levin-Hill, is playing Gretel in a local theatrical production of "Hansel and Gretel." When a conservation agent is found murdered on her grandfather's property, Ingrid, with her trusty canine sidekick Nigel as her Watson, uses Sherlock Holmes' methods as she investigates the crime in order to clear Grampy of suspicion. This is a riveting, suspenseful tale, with a fascinating assortment of characters, that will interest adults as much as the teens and tweens it's written for.
