really liked it

Surprisingly serious for a Tawna Fenske novel. I’m used to her romantic comedy series. This had some hilarious moments, but also brought the psychological drama.

Willa is a hard-working web designer. She’s also single and likes it that way. That’s why she has a maximum two-date rule, to keep things casual. But when she meets smokejumper Grady, he tempts her to break her rules. Equally driven Grady can’t believe his luck at meeting such an amazing woman. And hey, if she wants to make this short-term, that’s fine. It’s hard to maintain a relationship when you’re always traveling anyway. Only, of course, the more time he spends with Willa, the less he can imagine walking away.

Both main characters are challenged by the other, and have to face some hard truths about themselves. This is a romance where it feels like a real-life relationship, as two different people have to decide what they’re willing to change to be together. This first book has set up some great secondary characters for future stories. Can’t wait!
