** spoiler alert ** The first half of the book was stronger and the travels more memorable than the back half. Otherwise, it might have been a four-star book for me.

Arthur Less - on the precipice of 50, most recent novel rejected by his publisher, and, of course, the worst part - his ex is getting married. How to avoid all of this? Well, he's been having invitations for all sorts of things piling up - he accepts all of them, leading him on a trip around the world.

Along the way Less encounters interesting characters, and he finds himself in odd situations. He is the protagonist of his own meandering novel, the one his publisher won't take.

Overall, I enjoyed it, but I don't know if it is Pulitzer-worthy.
