it was amazing

Slight spoilery hints to follow...

This was a seriously cool and at times even unusual and creative entry in the currently fever-pitch-hot post-apocalyptic YA genre. The somewhat Dollhouse-esque set-up, truly likable plucky heroine, intriguing love interest, and shocking end twists were superb. I have to say, that last surprise regarding Blake was genuinely dark, disturbing, and therefore fascinating. Who is "the old man," for goodness sake? Suspenseful!

Slight drawbacks include tired Hunger Games stereotypical elements (though I don't know when this was written, so maybe it's coincidental) such as the sacrificial lamb younger female character/sister figure and the bland secondary love interest guy. However, these do nothing to detract from the enjoyment of the novel.
