This had to be one of the most simplistic books I have ever read. Shallow, predictable, beyond cheesy, and in general, a waste of time. It's too bad I don't have the ability to just stop reading a book mid-way - once I start, I'm committed - because this would have been the perfect book to just toss without bothering to finish.

Justin Stanley Nicholas Sparks, I've heard, writes some flat-ass stories with obvious arcs and cardboard characters.

Vanessa I agree completely! I don't understand how he's become so huge, but then again I have a fairly unrealistic view of how intelligent the rest of our country is. I also don't understand how such beautiful movies like "the Notebook" were based off his writing...

Justin Stanley It's funny how that works out. Most book-to-movie translations end up failing because the character's inner workings and thoughts don't often translate into a visual medium. But then, when you've got a crappy writer like Sparks, you can forego the obvious, horribly written aspects and just make a movie based off the rest.

That being said, thanks for the heads up. I won't read the rest of his stuff :)
