really liked it
bookshelves: nonfiction, health

This was one of those books that I found on a shelf of a goodreads friend. I put it on my "to read" shelf while in an ambitious mood one day and then requested it from the library when I was bookless another day. Then it became available and sat on my actual book shelf while I read other books. It just wasn't calling my name. There was nothing about the book that seemed appealing to me but then I remembered that it got there because it was loved by a trusted goodreads friend (Khaya) so I forced myself to give it a try. Yay for Goodreads! It was a very compelling book right from the start. I loved getting an inside look at things I never considered in the medical field. It had a lot of what I enjoy in a book... good writing, insightful and thought provoking information and honesty. Parts of the book had some surgery details that may not appeal to the squeamish but to my relief that was not true for all of the chapters.
