it was amazing
bookshelves: fantasy

If you like character-driven plots, than this good is for you. If you like a little less talk and a lot more action. . . .well, you have to slog through 2/3 of the book to get to that.

So, yeah, it starts slow -- one main character isn't presented until 25% through the book. But the writing is rich and wonderful. The footnotes are amazing: long stories kind of setting up the world but not always much to do with the plot. I loved them -- may not be everyone's cup of tea.

Well, actually, this book may not be for everyone, but if you like Jane Austin or Charles Dickens don't mind a little magic in their world, then I'd recommend this one
