it was amazing
bookshelves: australian-author, family, mystery, suspense, favorites

The blurb says twisty novel - it is not wrong. Every couple of pages I had a new thought on how Diana died - by her own hand - or at someone else’s.

The narrator changed regularly, the time setting changed between past and present - normally something I dislike. But this time it worked and kept me glued to the book. Each crossover revealed a little more - gave both sides of an event, mentioned missed chances which caused misunderstandings that helped drive the story.

Yet by the end of the story - Diane became my favourite character - a complete turnaround as to how Sally Hepworth wanted her readers to think at the start. Diane’s innermost character was gradually revealed, her back story, why her husband loved her, all contrasted to how her children, and daughter in law all saw her.

Another top read by a favourite Aussie Author.
