really liked it

An imminently rational and reasonable reading of the book of Revelations. It will be universally disregarded.

Pagels puts Revelations in the context of the author's time of intense persecution of Christians by Rome, in the context of other heavily symbolic prophetic works of the time such as those recovered at Nag Hammadi, and in the context of the fourth century internal church politics that lead to the book's inclusion in the Biblical canon.
