A remarkable story of an Iraqi family. The author manages to include historic events without ever getting too bogged down. A good primer on modern Iraqi history and culture; best for the period 1900-1980. Then, it seemed to get too political, as the author admits she (and the rest of the family) really hated Saddam Hussein.
