It's not fair, of course, to compare this to Band of Brothers, since (Pacific theater and Marine Corps aside) it's a completely different type of book: a first-person narrative, not a (comparatively) objective historical account. But, as a reading experience of men in war, it's hard not to compare this to both BoB and its many first-person "spinoffs." And in my mind, it falls short, both as a gripping read and a historical journey, simply because of the impersonal and, again, in my opinion, dry voice.
