really liked it

I first read this book twenty-odd years ago - and hated it at the time. Nothing happens until some characters die off-page and finally, after ten years, the remaining Ramsay family sail to a lighthouse and Lily Briscoe finishes her painting. Is that it?

But it’s a deft and bold book, a dense 240 pages that rewards patience and close reading, a musing on time, loss, and art. It’s also a beautiful edition, fittingly.
