really liked it

I gave this 4 stars but it is more complicated than that.

The murder and plot would normally only get 3 stars. I thought the final "whodunit" was not particularly satisfying and the "stupid cop" character was annoying.

However, I did enjoy the character development and the setting. In fact, it was the depth of the secondary characters (Gwen, for instance) and even the "one time only" visitors at the inn that made me bump this to 4 stars.

The book reads consistently--not a fast read but it doesn't bog down either.

This is one of those books where I can't think of a lot to say, good or bad. I did like the book; I'm glad I read it; I hope the next one fills in the gaps that seem to be missing in this one.
