3 stars is being generous I'm afraid. This is easily one of the poorest of the Rutledge books, entirely focused on the details of the case in question. No psychological conundrums for Rutledge. No life at all for him outside the case. Very little Hamish and what's there is mostly perfunctory. The authors seem bored. I was too for much of it.
