Maisie is asked by the Secret Service to get a job as a lecturer at the tiny College of St. Francis in Cambridge. Her task is to monitor and uncover any "non-British" activity. Then the head of the college is murdered. The book is a little dry and the characters never really come off the page, but readers will keep going to the end, nonetheless. Maisie is a little annoying in this 8th book in the series, especially since she seems too perfect (teach philosophy? of course she can. And without doing any discernible prep or planning!) to be real. Fans of the series will plod through, but it is time for some resolution.
