really liked it

River of Gods is an effortless science fiction thriller: it has a heavy dose of technological innovation, novums if you please, and pondering upon its role, but all this blends nicely into the intense plot line that moves from the easy descriptive jog of introducing the world to the gripping sprint of the unfolding events in the end. The long list of narrators that might seem daunting becomes a good vehicle as it keeps the section compact and leaves you anxious to hear of their future developments. McDonald forges a believable and vibrant futuristic India full of marvel and (to a scandinavian) exotic (but not exotism). Besides the entising plot lines, the author introduces interesting minor details that leave you wondering about any amount of issues that can be seem to be encompassed within its pages from sexuality to consciousness. Quite heady, but also extremely readable.
