I read this because The Picture of Dorian Gray is based on it in part…

(I think I only have the first part, so that is all I am reviewing).

Of course I have no idea if it's supposed to make sense or not. There were parts which I couldn't make sense of, but other parts which were actually really inteersting in terms of plot.

I loved the rhythm of the poem. Just 3 stars out of 5 because I couldn't make sense of parts.

Judy I didn't know The Picture of Dorian Gray was based on this. Maybe, I will need to read this first.

Maria We had a backpacker in our campervan who looked through my iPod books and said, "Did you know that The Picture of Dorian Gray was based on Faust?"

I said, "No, I didn't. I'll have to read it first."

When you think about it, though, it makes sense. I'm reading How To Read Literature LIke a Professor right now and it says a lot of books have been based on Faust. The Picture of Dorian Gray is basically making a deal with the devil, which is kind of the entire point of Faust.
