I enjoyed this, but didn't love it. I liked the continuity of going to the same square meter every day. It put me in mind of Sally Carrighar's books, the "day at" ones. The writing was interesting, the digressions worth following, the sentiments certainly resonant- but at the end, I wasn't knocked out, I wasn't raging or uplifted or moved, particularly. It was a nice book, but when I want passionate nature writing, I will continue to look to Carl Safina.
