Starters is the first in a new series that will appeal to fans of dystopian sci-fi like The Hunger Games or Across the Universe. The setting is the somewhat near future in post-apocalyptic Los Angeles, a year or so after a bio-terror war has killed the entire mid-aged segment of the population, making the eldest members of society the most powerful. The story is an interesting contrast of the extremes in age (old vs. young) and in wealth (poverty stricken vs. ultra wealthy), with virtually nothing in between. The premise is interesting--Enders who want to feel young again can "rent" a Starter body for a week. The Ender and the Starter are connected via microchips planted in their brains (think of the virtual mind-body connections in the movie Avatar).
