Beauty (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #20.5)

It's a single hot-tub scene with Jean-Claude, Anita, and Asher doing the sex we've all seen before and enjoy seeing again. It's got all the heat we'd expect from our favorites. There is not really any new ground covered here except to say that it's nice to see Anita no longer torn over her sexuality. That was becoming extremely onerous and tiresome and it's refreshing to see her just enjoy that part of herself now without needing to grieve herself and everyone else over it.
There is also a scene that is a sneak peek at the next book, Kiss the Dead (#21 in the series).
I agree with the general consensus that at 2.99 the piece is exorbitantly over priced. That said, I rate based on the content not the price, particularly since I have no way of knowing if the price was set by the author or the publisher and it doesn't really have anything to do with the story.
This is a 4 star sex scene but I'm so used to seeing that quality of sex scene in the Anita Blake series that it's not special.

Yeah I agree it was an "ordinary" sex scene when you compare it to all the others in the over all series. Since it had been release on it's own and it was said to be a hot scene, I was expecting much more hotness than what we usually see from most scenes in the series, and so I was a little disappointed. Still it was a nice one and I loved the sneak peek, makes it look like the next book will be very interesting.

I am not one of the masses who prefer the "old Anita" that was, to me, a bit of an emotionally unavailable sociopath, and I get bored pretty quickly with police procedural stories. I LIKE the supernatural elements and the sex and the personal growth, I hope to see more growth in the story line of the evolution of the American Council. The last two books have felt a bit like appeasing the whiners, to me.
I hope we get to see more of the council too, and since there seem to be a group of renegade vampire, maybe we will, I guess it will depends of who leads this group.
I've just finihsed Hit List and after this current binge I am now thorough sick and tired of Anita's pissy self-flaggelation over loving sex, though I am glad she's now more conflicted about thoughtless violence.I'll have to read this to feel sure she's over it now. I believe you, I just need to feel it for myself as I've thought she might have got over it again only to find her behaving like a teenager yet again.
As I know to trust you, I'm really looking forward to finding out that you're right about this.
" I get bored pretty quickly with police procedural stories. I LIKE the supernatural elements and the sex and the personal growth"Hear, hear. Though I like some police procedural too. A good mix with enough plot to fill the pages is what I like best, I think hence my preference with the stories including Edward.
