really liked it
bookshelves: sci-fi

For nearly the entire book, I was going to give it 3 stars. That is until roughly the last 100 pages.

A couple of complaints. The writing would switch from first person to third person, making it a bit awkward to know if I was reading about the same person between segments. I don't know what was up with that.

This might be a little spoilery. (view spoiler)

There were just a few explanations that were left out making it harder to suspend belief & fully swallow the story.

All of that said, it was very well formed. The way transitioning was used through out the worlds was rather interesting. It was fun to see the author push boundaries.

message 2: by Wendy Darling (new)

Wendy Darling I keep meaning to read Iain Banks, but have yet to do so! I hear such good things. I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)

September Me too! I've only read some of Banks SF, but I've enjoyed much of what I've read. He does other fiction under "Iain Banks" & SF under "Iain M. Banks." I know nothing of his non-SF contributions. :S I hope you enjoy his work, when you get around to reading Banks. :)
