This is my favorite Shakespearean drama, even if it is his bleakest. It is a masterwork of human spectacle that leaves me not feeling the nothingness of existence and the harshness of a cold, malicious world, but the possibility of human action, forgiveness and love to get us through our pain and suffereing. At the end of the play, the remaining characters look to the stars, to the gods for some explanation and mercy. But the only ones who can supply that salve is each other--and Edgar's final lines may be the most truthful lines Shakespeare ever wrote.

Brilliant stuff.

Demisty Bellinger I think this is my second favorite, next to Macbeth.
