I really like the story. I can't write about it without giving some things away, but I will try to be sparse. I like the character of the father and his "healing" abilities. He is a remarkable man, many good qualities to show his children. He also develops a good sense of family with them. The family tragedy and the good that comes from it is refreshing, but I have trouble with the poem writing 8 year old. Her writing is fun and exciting and full of great words, but having had two 8 year olds, the writing she comes out with is way above an 8 year olds ability, even an unusually talented one.

Aside from that, the family relationships between the siblings and their father is wonderful. Sometimes perfect, usually fine, sometimes strained, all the good stuff you find in a supportive family trying its best to survive. I love that they find a mom. They are all doing fine, they think, until they find someone to love them and take care of them. That's when they know something was missing. They took the bad and good and made their lives into something good anyway. It is a great story, if a bit far fetched.

Mimi I am dying to discuss this. I agree the family relations and how they dealt with their fate was really good.
