it was amazing
bookshelves: children-s-books, discovered-in-the-details
Read in August, 2008

I recently listened to an interview on NPR with E.B. White. I wanted to re-read this book after hearing the interview and came across a used copy at a great little bookstore named the Paradox Book Store in Wheeling West Wirginia while on a weekend camping trip!

Sadly, I barely remembered anything from my initial reading of this book as a child.

I loved this quick read! Several times I caught myself laughing out loud, and the ending touched my heart.

The author had recorded this book as a book on tape, and during the interview he indicated that it took 16 or so takes for him to read the last paragraph of the chapter 'the las day', without audibly crying.

I can see why.
