This book was fairly well-plotted and written, with a few minor editing errors. I was definitely expecting something cleaner—I didn't expect an explicit sex scene, and I didn't feel that the couple of sex scenes that were included added to the story, which makes them gratuitous, in my mind. However, the characters were pretty well-developed, and since it was part of a series, the background cast had a great deal of depth and "real-world" feel. I would have liked to see more to the current phase of Bree's and Justin's friends-to-lovers romance than the lust kicking in (which, in turn, would maybe have made the sex scenes more relevant when they did show up), so that was a hole in the writing. I just had to ask myself: would I feel comfortable recommending this book? No. So it only gets 3 stars.
