bookshelves: history, non-fiction

Excellent portraits of the men and women, particularly in Massachusetts, who shepherded the Colonies to independence. I particularly liked the personal side of their lives - their relationships, friendships, loves and losses. I have to admit to feeling uncomfortable at times. I’m a Brit who lives in the town Where Dorothy Quincy married John Hancock, and as a resident alien before I married my American husband, I too felt the sting of taxation without representation.
