It's inspirational!, it's historical!, It's exciting! It's dramatic!

I obtained this when Amazon had this "50 biographies for $1 deal." This is one of the best 100 cents I ever spent!

I knew of Dietrich Bonhoeffer by reputation as a pastor who opposed Hitler very early on. I did not know of his actual story. Mr. Metaxas does an exceptional job of relating the historical context of the rise and fall of Hitler in parallel to the life of Pastor Bonhoeffer. It's a great bio that compares very favorably to something David McCullough would've written.

It's a happy coincidence that I saw Valkyrie starring Tom Cruise some time ago. The movie was a decent portrayal of the actual events and provided good visuals for much of the content in the final chapters of this book.

Mr. Bonhoeffer was truly a prophet in his day. His life experiences are just a relevant today as they were six decades ago.
