Boring. And stupid. Every single character, old and new, gets less and less interesting as Alvin himself becomes more and more Christ-like. If I wanted to read about a perfect man who can do no wrong and has a posse of followers and the obligatory group of similarly one-dimensional characters bent on undoing him, I'd read the bible.

Only thing keeping me going is the fact that I already read three of this series, and unfortunately the first three books were interesting enough that, even though I'm starting to hate it, I feel like I have to keep going. Oh, when ever will I learn the lesson of sunk cost.

Honestly, though. There isn't much plot going on in this 300+ page installment of Alvin's journey.

Oh, and nothing has to make sense, because Orson Scott Card says so.
