Lon Po Po is a Red Riding hood story from China. It isn't identical to the original little Red Riding Hood that many students in the US have grown up with, but it has some of the same story line. The illustrations are done in a water color i believe which adds to the image of China because a lot of chinese art is done in a water color. The illustrations are also done in panels which breaks up the illustration without taking away any of the image. Some of the illustrations stray out of the border, however usually being a small rope, or the wolf swinging from the tree. This gives it sort of a 3D affect which adds to the illustrations and the story. Without the words, one can get the general idea of the story but may get somewhat confused as to what is going on. With the words and the story together, one gets the full affect. They each compliment each other.
