it was amazing
bookshelves: children

** spoiler alert ** My kindergartners enjoyed saying aloud, "she still had extra yarn." I love the illustrations, but I'm very partial to Jon Klassen's work. The only part my kiddos did not understand was the ending. The archduke curses Annabelle, "Little girl, I curse you with my family's curse! You will never be happy again!" Then after 2 pages of minimal text and great pictures it ends with, "it turned out she was."

Several kids asked, "she was what?" So this led to some good conversations.

It was also fun asking the kids whether they thought the box of yarn, when returned, was empty or still had yarn. A fun book to read aloud.
