This is another intriguing Doc Ford story by Randy Wayne White. This time around Doc is invited to a party at a resort on Vanderbilt Island. This invitation only event is hosted by Viktor Kaslov, a Russian black marketer and caviar dealer. While diving and checking out Kaslov’s yacht, he feels an explosion. Thinking it is a lightning storm, but is surprised that it is a terrorist attack.

I enjoy the Doc Ford stories and having visited the area that White writes about last year, I thought it would be intriguing, but I feel that the character has reached his useful age and should be laid to rest. The story was okay and being set in a six hour time frame he added a lot of action and dram in that time, but still lacked something that his previous novels didn’t.
