it was ok
bookshelves: graphic-novels, memoirs, nonfiction, did-not-finish
Read in December, 2008

All right, so this was one of those novels that I just never got into but I could still appreciate the author's ideas. I'm not a huge fan of graphic novels so I struggled with the format of the book and the thing was, I kind of felt like the story was moving in circles. She kept going back to her dad's death and I think because the plot wasn't linear, I started to lose focus. Also, I was totally lost in a lot of the literary references. I've read one novel by Fitzgerald and nothing by Proust so I really didn't get (or care for) that aspect of her writing.

Having said all that, I do have respect for her as a writer since the subject matter she deals with is very personal (and controversial for some) but she's very open and honest and entertaining in her way of presenting her life story. I just, sadly, didn't care to finish reading it. I only got to page 130 and lost interest.
