really liked it
bookshelves: race-african-american, audience-girl, parenting, high-low

Try giving it to fans of Drama High: Like the main character in DH, this main character is urban, tough, and street-smart—though not as empowered in the beginning, which is where the story springs from. She has to learn about the power of family ties and history in order to reach her potential.
