Loved it!

This story of a young girl's escape from Saigon just before it fell and relocation to Alabama is very touching. It is sad at times, and some of the bigotry and bullying she faced will make you angry, but it is also told with a touch of humor. For example, when learning English, she finds the addition of "s" to make a plural, even with words that already end in s, confusing, and comments on how it sounds like a snake hissing, and whoever invented English must have liked snakes. Then when she is studying all the irregulars and exceptions, she says whoever invented English should be bitten by a snake, LOL!

The story is not overall sad or depressing; there is loss, sacrifice, and bigotry, but there is also hope, family, friendship, kindness, and humor.
