it was amazing
bookshelves: highly-recommended
Read from March 24 to April 12, 2012

This book is as much about the ways in which Robert Mapplethorpe helped Patti Smith unfold into a poet, artist and musician as it is a timepiece about Manhattan of the late '60s/early '70s — particularly all of the cultural forces that lived in or orbited the Chelsea Hotel. Such a beautiful read, and an inspiring one as well.

I wrote a personal response to reading it on my blog.
