Three stars plus. O'neal tells her stories beautifully. Reading her work is like curling up with hot chocolate under a warm blanket by the fire while it shows outside. The novel has an interesting enough premise and a likable heroine, but the first hundred pages felt slow. Too much build up and set up for things you knew would happen. A romance with a predictable end, because really, Tess has no reason to move on, or return to her old life.
Excellent supporting cast of characters and a clever twist involving sisters. Would have liked to hear a bit more from Vita. Natalie's parts were compelling and the exploration of a child's grief very real and relatable.
