Dirty Blonde: The Diaries of Courtney Love
Say what you want about Courtney Love, but in 1994, when I was 14 and awkward and angry and becoming a woman, she was the first female I ever saw who made it okay to be awkward and angry and sexual and unafraid and most importantly, unapologetic. She was my first mainstream introduction to third-wave feminism and that, in addition to her compelling personality, makes her a worthy subject for study. Besides, I have a soft spot for diarists and a softer spot for salacious Hollywood stories.
