The book is very much about the fact that there is no magic bullet to keep us healthy and the future of medicine will be more about effectively preventing illness than about new ways to treat it.

Much of the book is about the one illness that we currently have no cure for: Cancer. Dr. Agus likes to call it "cancering" as it is more of a process that occurs when our bodies systems go awry than just something we "get". The doctor believes the future of medicine lies in understanding how these systems work, which is a complex task, as well as each of us taking responsibility for our own health.

I found it to be a generally good read. I am definitely reexamining the vitamins I take. I wonder what kinds of arguments he might have with Dr. Oz, since he is a big booster of some of the latest vitamin fads, and Dr. Agus is most certainly not.
