really liked it

I was a bit skeptical about this as I'd started (and soon stopped) reading another Nick Cole story (Ctrl Alt Revolt! - a zombie story, yawn). But this was pretty interesting and kept me wanting to read more. It's obviously based on (and makes frequent references to) Hemingway's "The Old Man and the Sea" but the situation is different enough to make it a completely original story. This is part 1 of a series, and I bought the next ones immediately after finishing this.

An old man living in a Mad Max, post-apocalyptic world (no cities, just a few enclaves in the desert) goes out on a lone scavenging hunt, possibly his last one. Although his purpose is never clear, the story is interesting, and the characters are delineated and believable.
