I got onto this series via the author's blog. He seemed like a cool guy, and I'm always down for subverting Disney Princesses (he said he got the idea for the series as a response to his daughter filling the house with the things). It follows the adventures of Cinderella (now married and with a baby on the way), Snow White (a sorceress who uses a mix of mirror magic and charm), and Sleeping Beauty (a highly skilled martial artist with a dour outlook on life) as they attempt to rescue Cinderella's husband from the fairy kingdom. I initially found the book a little too light and fast paced, to the point where it approached twee, and I had trouble getting a feel for the characters. However, it added a boat load of angst in the last third that felt very real and anchored the characters and story for me. Overall, I enjoyed it, and continued with the series.
