This story revolves around two friends Harry Griffin, who inherited his fortune from his grandfather. And, Guy Magnus who worked hard to get to where he is.

I'll be honest I have no clue about stocks and shares or the financial market. But, after reading this book I have learnt a lot about the goings-on on the trading floor. Guy is very insistent that shares aren't for investing they are for buying and selling. The author has a history in the financial world and this comes across well in his knowledge and explanations throughout the story.

I fell in love with the cover of this book, it's simple yet aesthetically pleasing. It's only when you start reading the story that you get the full understanding of the title and cover. The book is split into three parts The Collector, The Takeover and The Settlement. And, before each part begins we get an excerpt from Suetonius' The Twelve Caesars. Here we learn that the title refers to the emperor Caligula. Who supposedly made two Roman legions collect seashells and attack ocean waves.

I liked the development of the characters Harry and Guy throughout this book, through the good and bad times. A somewhat stable friendship.

If you're into historical fiction or like the stock market then this book is a must for you.
