This book was hilarious. The concept of cows, hens, and ducks typing up requests to their Farmer and going on strike until they get their electric blankets and diving board in the pond was really enjoyable and funny to read. The basic plot line is that the cows decide that they want electric blankets to heat up their cold barn at night. Receiving a note saying this, the farmer refuses at first, claiming that it's ridiculous for animals to make such demands. Nonetheless, the cows refuse to produce any milk until they get blankets. NExt, the hens decide that they want electric blankets too. They type up a letter to the farmer and demand them, but as before, the farmer refuses. Thus, the hens decide to withhold any more eggs until they get their request. Finally, the opposing parties make a concession: the cows and hens will give the typewriter to the duck to deliver back to the farmer if the farmer gives them blankets. The Farmer finally agrees and delivers the blankets, but once the duck gets ahold of the type writer, he takes advantage of it and demands a diving board for the pond via note to Farmer Brown. The end of the book shows that once again, the farmer had to concede, the ducks get their diving board.

I loved the aspect of animals being able to speak and make demands of their farmer. I think kids would really enjoy the illustrations and the repetitive sentences and sounds.
