We Cast a Shadow
The desperation propelling the main character is hard to read at times, but it’s driven by structural racism that’s been deeply internalized across society. One of those near-future settings where it’s just plausible enough to give you pause. Definitely worth reading, and I think this would be an excellent book club selection.
