bookshelves: stopped-reading

I read over 300 pages before I gave in to my conscience. There were a lot of sexual references to illicit encounters. The merit of the story was not worth reading them & I should have stopped earlier. I was disappointed because I really enjoyed Baker's first book but these characters were less satisfying & the constant allusion to a big family secret was bothersome.

Joan I'm so glad someone else out there feels the way I do. It could've been a pretty good book if not for the nasty language and sexual stuff that seemed to really slam us at the end. Her first book, The Little Giant of Aberdeen County was really enjoyable - until the end with the homosexual junk. This stuff only ruins what could be a great book. I actually just emailed the author and gave my opinion, for what it's worth. On to more decent stories! :)
